CHILDREN THIRSTING FOR GOD
4 June 08

Let me tell you about a young boy who I will call Steven. Last year when I first started work at the school Steven was considered a real behaviour problem. His behaviour was often out of control and inappropriate and his speech perverse. I was asked to spend time with him and through that made connection to his mum. Steven's dad does not live at home. Over time Steven has become a part of the CaSE 101 program at the school and is regularly coming to Foreverland. The other day Steven's teacher approached his church buddy at the CaSE 101 meeting and praised Stevens' considerate and kind behaviour. Steven is experiencing the power of God's love and acceptance modeled to him. A life is slowly being changed and Stevens' future is being secured in the reality of God's love instead of the darkness of this world without God. This is the power of connection.

Several weeks ago I taught an RE grade 1 class. I used the lesson to tell the kids about what God is like - that no matter what we have done or where we are He is always close and ready to help us if we call out to Him. Afterward one little boy came up to me and asked “When are you going to tell us about God again?" He asked this same question every day after that until the day of the next RE lesson. On that day this little boy was away, sick. The harvest is white among children. Kids are crying out for knowledge of God and what is true.  But the enemy is also at work. This is why we must pray.
